About
Danica Rozario is a New Jersey state licensed Professional Counselor with a growing practice based in Jersey City, New Jersey. As the founder of Mindkind Counseling Services LLC, her mission is to provide high-quality, professional support services to her expanding clientele of youth and adults.
The concept of Mindkind evolved from the unique juxtaposition that exists between the fragility and strength of the human mind; urging us to practice kindness towards and acceptance of the mind’s varying states. This practice acknowledges that humankind, versus mankind, consists of fluid and collective experiences that are best processed in an environment void of judgement, discrimination and expectation. Maintaining a firm stance in the admiration, rather than simply the acceptance of varying genders, ethnicities, sexual orientations, ages and religious beliefs, our mission is to empathetically join you on your journey to “better”. Offering an informal and approachable treatment style that aims to diminish the stigma and formalities sometimes associated with therapy, we simply create a safe space for clients to ‘try on their strength’.
Having completed her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Fairleigh Dickinson University- Florham Park and earning her Professional Counselor licensure in New Jersey, Danica has provided therapeutic services to individuals in a variety of therapeutic settings for ten years. With extensive experience in a hospital-based setting, Danica has provided professional therapeutic services (assessing, counseling, stabilizing and treatment planning) to adult and pediatric patients experiencing severe emotional distress in an inpatient and agency outpatient level of care. These years of practice have cultivated for her, an irreplaceable understanding of resilience in the human spirit. Experience working with smaller, for-profit and community-based agencies has afforded Danica the insight into the power of a grass-roots effort. Lastly, her administrative and supervisory experience has provided her the opportunity to train, cultivate and lead new and emerging clinicians towards providing excellent and compassionate care in the field. She is a National Board Certified counselor and a long-standing member of the American Counseling Association.
Danica specializes in treating pediatric clients, LGBTQ clients of all ages and adults with a history of trauma and/or loss.
The pediatric population that we most commonly treat are experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges including but not limited to: depressive symptoms, feelings of anxiety, parental separation, trauma, grief/loss, self-mutilative behaviors, identity issues, anger management problems and impulsivity).
Our work with the resilient members of the LGBTQ population includes navigating and coping with issues surrounding: identity formation, coming out, parent support and education, interpersonal skills, modern dating and self acceptance.
Our work with trauma survivors is the cornerstone of the practice. The journey within is treated with utmost respect and integrity as we slowly navigate life's most unpredicted and challenging moments. We believe the processing and support we offer has helped countless individuals work through the invisible barrier that trauma creates and enter into a space of clarity, acceptance and power.
